ISEF is the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair, the world's largest pre-college celebration of science. Held annually in May, the Intel ISEF brings together over 1,200 students from 40 nations and 48 states to compete for scholarships, tuition grants, internships, scientific field trips and the grand prize: $50,000 college scholarship and a high-performance computer. Science Service founded the ISEF in 1950 and is very proud to have Intel as the title sponsor of this prestigious, international competition.

ISEF is hosted each year by a different city across the United States. In 2000, I travelled to Detroit, Michigan as an ISEF Finalist. I went to San Jose, California representing Alabama As a Finalist in 2001.

The North Alabama Regional Science and Engineering Fair (NARSEF) held each year at Calhoun Community College in Decatur. Gives the students (9th - 12th grade) of North Alabama the chance to become an ISEF Finalist. NARSEF picks the top 4 students to receive an all expense paid trip to ISEF.

You may think that you do not have a chance to have one of the top 4 projects. But every year since 1995 at least one of the North Alabama home school students has won a trip to ISEF, with as many as three going in one year. This year there were two of our North Alabama Home school students who went to Portland, Oregon to enter ISEF.
