Category Awards

I decided to organize NAHSF so that your home school can compete in project categories as well as by grade. All home schooled students, K to 12th grades are welcome. These catagories will be the same as the ISEF fairs use. Also the grades will be divided, as they will be at an ISEF fair. I am using the ISEF fairs as the standard so that the student will be ready for them when they enter them.
As you plan your projects remember that many projects (subjects) will fit into more than one category. This will allow the student to pick a category he or she wishes to enter and plan the project accordingly.
For example, I chose a project that involved my sheep. At the time that I was doing science fairs, we were having a very bad problem with internal parasites making the sheep sick. So, for three years, I did research on controlling the internal parasites naturally. I had four categories in which I could enter this project. First, was ‘Zoology’ because it was research for animals. Second, was ‘Medicine and Health’ because I was trying out a cure for a medical problem. Third, was ‘Microbiology’ because parasites are in this category. ‘Biology’ was another choice because Biology is the study of living things.
As you can see you may be able to fit the project into more than one of the categories. So keep this in mind as you are planning the project.
