Are you wondering what NAHSF is? Well NAHSF stands for North Alabama Homeschool Science and Engineering Fair. This is a new science and engineering fair just for the home schooled students of northern Alabama.
This past fall (2003) I was asked to coordinate the 1st Annual Excalibur Science Fair. (For Excalibur Home School of Madison) As I planned and worked with the students I recognized two problems that I think NAHSF will help to fix.
The first thing that I saw was that out of 60 plus families in Excalibur I only had fourteen projects.

With so few projects I was not able to categorize the project by subject. I could only divide them by grade. From what I have seen over the last few years, this is a problem that affects most if not all home schools.
The second problem was due to the students' ages. My six youngest students were not eligible to enter the North Alabama Regional Science and Engineering Fair (NARSEF) because that fair only accepts projects from students in 5th grade and up.
I decided to organize NAHSF so that your home school can compete in projects by category as well as by grade. All home schooled students are welcome from K to 12th grades.
